The Heavenly Rest Choristers
Updated: 5 days ago

We welcome boys, 4th grade through voice change, and girls, 4th-12th grade, who are able to carry a tune and match pitch. The Choristers rehearse September through May, Wednesdays, 5:15–6:00 pm and sing for services two to three times a month.
Music is derived from a 500-year repertory, from Gregorian Chant and motets sung in Latin, to Bach and Handel, to 19th Century cathedral anthems, to the music of living composers, all based on scriptural, liturgical, Psalm and Mass texts. The Choristers are taught how to read music, sight-sing, produce a singing voice, pronounce Latin texts, relate music lyrics to scripture, and better understand the lectionary and liturgical year.
Contact the Choirmaster, Thomas Pavlechko, at tpavlechko@heavenlyrestabilene.org if you have a son or daughter who may have the abilities and may be interested in singing with us.
Reflect on the words of The Chorister’s Prayer:
Bless, O Lord, us thy servants
Who minister in thy temple;
Grant that what we sing with our lips
We may believe in our hearts,
And what we believe in our hearts,
We may show forth in our lives;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
