Farewell to Blaine Beyer

After four years of faithful service, Blaine Beyer has stepped down from his position as Director of Communications at the Church of the Heavenly Rest.

When Blaine was hired in 2019, few could have imagined what a fruitful tenure he would have at Heavenly Rest. Indeed, it is not unreasonable to say that Blaine’s accomplishments surpassed our wildest expectations. Among other things, Blaine coordinated and implemented a comprehensive branding project, streamlined our parish-wide communications, served as a media consultant to the parish leadership, created imaginative and engaging materials for special events at the parish, and helped us think of new ways to share the gospel with the surrounding community. Most conspicuously, Blaine was instrumental in making our liturgies available online, creating new opportunities for engagement and outreach both within the parish and in the wider world. It is worth noting that, in addition to these accomplishments, Blaine dutifully fulfilled the day-to-day responsibilities of his position, and has been a faithful and beloved colleague to the Heavenly Rest staff. It goes without saying that he will be missed.

Blaine began working as the Multimedia Coordinator for the City of Abilene at the beginning of April. We are grateful that his new position is not far from the church, and we look forward to seeing him on occasion.

Austin Hackel, a parishioner and student at ACU’s Graduate School of Theology, will be working part-time to cover some of the day-to-day responsibilities of the Communications Director. We are in the process of discerning our other communications-related staffing needs.

Please join us in giving thanks for Blaine and his ministry among us.
