Fellowship Groups

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is an order dedicated to prayer, service and evangelism. The meetings are the first Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Bishop Garrett Room.

DOK.jpgSchedule: Each meeting begins with prayer, a study and the creation of a monthly prayer list. Each member prays daily for all those on the monthly prayer list.

All our meetings are open and all women are welcome to come, pray and study with us. Everyone is welcome to submit names for the prayer list by completing a blue card found in each pew in the nave and placing it in the alms basin or by calling any member of the DOK.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew

Brotherhood.jpgThe Brotherhood of St. Andrew

The Brotherhood of St. Andrew develops and equips men and boys to a closer life with Christ through the lifelong disciplines of daily prayer, regular study and committed service.

Beginning this fall, the group will meet on the first on Tuesday evening of the month for dinner and a program at 6:30 pm.

The Brotherhood has been a faithful part of Heavenly Rest for over sixty years.

St. Margaret's Guild

St. Margaret’s is one of the oldest guilds in our parish. The group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. for fellowship and study, usually in the Library. The first Tuesday we bring sack suppers, and say Compline. The 3rd Tuesdays we bring sack suppers (once in a while someone cooks) and Mary Crymes leads us in study. During the summer months we eat out at least once a month.

This year Mary has been leading us through The Food and Feasts of Jesus: Inside the World of First Century Fare by Doug Neel and Joel Pugh. We used recipes from the book for our Christmas party and had a potluck first century feast. We also had Key Lime & Chocolate Caramel pie because we believe in 21st century desserts!

This year we lost two dear friends Florence Jones and Hazyl Lindley. Both of these women lived their lives to the fullest and with joy. We are all better for knowing them and they will be missed.

Please join us for any or all meetings. Contact Rev. Amanda Watson at (325) 677-2091 for information about St. Margaret’s Guild.

Contemplative Prayer

On Tuesdays of each month at 4 p.m. experience God's presence through Contemplative Prayer, led by Sister Brigit-Carol.

Contemplative Prayer is a method of silent prayer in which we experience God's presence within us. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.

Contemplative Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer. Rather, it adds depth of meaning to all prayer and facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer — verbal, mental or affective prayer — into a receptive prayer of resting in God. Contemplative Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and as a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Him.

The source of Contemplative Prayer is the Indwelling Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The focus is the deepening of our relationship with the living Christ. The effects are ecclesial, as the prayer tends to build communities of faith and bond the members together in mutual friendship and love.
