Architectural Plans for the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest
2011 brought completion to one of the myriad
efforts initiated by our church in years past: the last niche in our
original columbarium was designated for a member of
our parish. In recognition of the significance of this
sacred space, our vestry began conversations on how to expand this option for our parishioners in the future.
Given the meaning with which we endow our church's rite for the
burial of the dead, the vestry suggested that a more
comprehensive design be offered for the integration of this space
with the church, the service and a transition to the parish hall at
the close of this service.
It was also voiced that this redesign would serve a dual function
for this space that has evolved into the church's primary entrance.
The expansion of the columbarium and attendant green space in the
redesign would provide a welcoming and attractive alternative to the
current impression made by our western entrance.
The Tittle Luther Partnership was retained to give form to these
discussions.
The initial sketches of the project, featured below, are the result of our vestry's leadership and represents many conversations regarding how this
space should look, function and serve our parish. For a more

This conversation is, by no means, complete. This rendering is
an initial design purposed to give this dialogue shape.
The success of the plan
will require more discussion and the vestry welcomes your questions,
comments and suggestions to successfully translate this vision into
reality.
