Confirmation - Deepen Your Faith. Broaden Your Mind. Make Friends.

Nearly twenty centuries ago, the Apostles laid hands on those who would follow them in the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ, and prayed for the gift of the Holy Spirit to assist them in every way.

This historical pattern continues in the Episcopal Church. In Confirmation the Bishop, through the laying on of hands and through prayer, entrusts the gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell with our Lord's disciples today.

As each person grows in the knowledge and love of the Lord, they are called by the Church to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, and to commit themselves to the responsibilities of the Baptismal Vows.

Those who have already received laying on of hands from a bishop in an apostolic tradition will be Received into this fellowship at the time of confirmation. Others who have been confirmed for some years but seek to renew and refresh their life in the Church may be Reaffirmed.

Confirmation Class at Heavenly Rest

The Inquirers Class, taught by the clergy, begins January 8, 2012. The class is for anyone interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church and, in particular, for those seeking confirmation. The confirmation class will meet each Sunday for several months and culminate with Bishop Mayer's visitation to confirm, reaffirm, and receive members of the class.
